Share one item with the right audience

Use a QR code when the other person has a phone in front of your screen. Use a share link when you need a different expiry or a specific audience.

A quick handoff with a QR code

  1. Open the saved item’s action menu and choose Show QR for handoff.
  2. Let the other person scan the code with their phone camera and open the link.

For an ordinary Board item, anyone with the code or link can open that item without signing in. It expires after 10 minutes. Someone can forward the link while it is valid.

A Vault QR code opens the Vault on the other device. Sign-in and Vault access are still required; the QR code does not unlock it. This link also expires after 10 minutes.

For your own signed-in devices, you can simply open the same board. You do not need to make a public handoff. See moving content between your devices.

Vault sharing has separate choices

A Vault one-click share link carries the decryption key in the link. Anyone with the complete link can read the shared content while the link is valid. The ordinary restricted-audience chooser is unavailable for these links.

For authenticated access, use the Vault item’s Share with people action and follow its recipient and access setup. Do not substitute a one-click link for recipient verification.

Vault titles, filenames and other metadata are not encrypted. Read the security details before choosing where to save sensitive information.
